Looping excerpt: the space station breaking apart

The project

MPM (Mesh to Particle to Mesh) is a personal research project on metal destruction. The subject: the International Space Station breaking apart above the Earth, simulated with Houdini's MPM solver.

The simulations are then brought into Unreal Engine for lighting, staging and rendering.

My contribution

HoudiniMetal destruction with the MPM solver. Clouds created from texture maps and Pyro, converted to VDB then compressed with ZibraVDB. Particle simulations exported as JSON for Niagara.
Unreal EngineImport of the destruction as Alembic, the VDB clouds with the ZibraVDB plugin and the particles into Niagara. Lighting, camera, Sequencer, post-process and rendering.
