Local generative AI · ComfyUI

Local generative AI, in your VFX pipeline

ComfyUI workflows designed for production, local first: data confidentiality and rigorous technical control, from the prompt to the export for compositing. Cloud models complement the setup when the project allows.

01

Local first

Models run on the machine, with no subscription. The cloud is a complement, not a replacement.

02

Confidential

Locally, shots and assets never leave the studio. A cloud model only comes in if the project allows it.

03

Controllable

Node-based workflows, not a black box: every step can be controlled.

04

Up to standard

32-bit HDR EXR, compatible with Nuke, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve.

Project: Post-production – After Effects compositing

Plate clean-up, retouching and roto

  • Removing reflections, wires and unwanted elements
    Clean removal on live-action shots.
  • Automatic masks and roto from prompt
Automated cut-out and rotoscoping to quickly isolate an element.
  • Inpainting and outpainting
Targeted correction of an area, or extending the set beyond the original frame.
  • Replacing elements from a prompt
    Swapping objects, clothing or details.
03 — Pipeline

From the 3D scene to compositing

A 3D base to drive the AI: the structure brings rigour to the generation and removes the usual hallucinations of generative video.

  1. 01 Houdini 3D layout Scene, camera and depth pass export.
  2. 02 Flux First frame Photorealistic render that respects the depth map; ControlNet, IPAdapter and LoRA for consistency.
  3. 03 LTX Animation Motion guided by the first frame and the original depth pass.
  4. 04 Detailer Finishing Detail pass and upscale before delivery.
  5. 05 OCIO Export 32-bit EXR sequence in ACEScg, plus an MP4 proxy to approve the shot.
04 — Approach

A Technical Artist's eye

As an FX artist, my role has always been to master technology in service of an artistic vision. I bring in generative AI not to replace the creative process, but to augment it.

Coming from procedural environments like Houdini and Nuke, adopting ComfyUI was a natural step: its node-based architecture gives fine control over every stage of generation, where other tools rely too much on chance.

Local remains my priority: that is where control, confidentiality and reproducibility are. I also use some cloud models, as a complement, when they bring a real plus to an image, a shot, a voice or a piece of music.

Documented workflows

All AI projects

Automated short film

A trailer produced by a fully automated pipeline: LLM agents for prompts, character consistency, EXR export in ACEScg.

Neural Rendering — 3D Driven Video

A photorealistic sequence under geometric control: 3D base, depth pass, Flux, upscale then LTX animation.

VFX & compositing — Dragon & fluids

AI extraction of separate passes (lava, fire, diffuse) for multi-pass compositing.
